The Magickal Home

Looking to make a magickal home full of witchy flair while attuning yourself with nature and spirit? Here are 5 ways to make your home more witchy!

Set Up an Altar

Setting up an altar is a great step for beginners to create magickal space within (or around) their witchy abode.

An altar can be a table, shelf, ledge, etc. where you can keep your tools and items used in your craft. It also creates an area for the magickal circle which you can work in or connect with deities, if that’s your bag.

Many Witches, Pagans, and Wiccans enjoy having a space outside in nature for their altar.

Some Witches may not have access to an outside space to set up, so your living room, bedroom, or other favorable space in the home is totally acceptable.

Some altar tools may include:

  • Pentacle
  • Cauldron
  • Bell
  • Cup
  • Incense
  • Crystals
  • Candles
  • Salt
  • Symbols of the Goddess and the
  • God
  • Offering bowl
  • Herbs and flowers

Feel free to adapt things because they should be magickal objects that vibe with you.

You may want to omit things like an offering bowl or you may like to store your Book of Shadows on the altar. Totally fine! Enjoy switching out altar pieces with the Sabbats.

Altar decor enthusiasts might find yourself saying, “I’m gonna need a bigger altar.”

Bring Nature Into Your Home

Something that connects witches of all practices is their love and use of natural resources.

Create a strong bond with nature through gardening and have bountiful supplies for herbal remedies, teas, veggies, and more (I’m looking at you lovely hedge and kitchen witches).

If you aren’t able to garden outside, you still have options, witches! Many grocery stores carry potted herbs. Indoor plants will bring magick to your home, no matter your path.

If those options aren’t available, you can bring local finds like leaves or stones to add to your awesome altar setup from tip one! But please be respectful of other people’s plants. 🙂

Bring Nature Into Your Home

Make Magickal Meals

The kitchen is a traditional place for the kitchen witch to manifest magick and feed the body and spirit. Cooking a meal can create a powerful connection between you and the ingredients. Think about the journey of the ingredients and the effort you put to prepare the tasty dish. Eat with intention and observance.

Other possibilities include blessing your food, using numerology in the number of times you stir sugar into your coffee, making crescent moon cookies, and even putting runes on your pies.

Divination can be done in the form of tasseography (reading tea leaves). The possibilities are endless and you can use your magickal meals to share time and blessings with those you love, especially on Sabbats!

Rest Your Head on an Enchanted Bed

Are you a sleepy Witch? Another area to think about when you’re making your witchy home, is where you get your beauty sleep. Good rest is not only important to your beauty, but your spellwork too.

Make or find lavender sachets to keep under your pillow or on a nightstand. Lavender is an herb that has long been associated with sleep, dreams, and peace. Teas infused with lavender and chamomile are also used to help a witch get some shut-eye.

If you like connecting with a deity for help, the Greek Hypnos and the Roman Somnus are both personifications of sleep. Try asking for their help or making an offering to ease you into slumber.

The Magick of You!

What makes a home truly magickal is you! The energy you bring in to your home is more influential than your whole crystal collection combined.

Although we witches do adore crystals! Use your magick in observance of the seasons (even if you live in Los Angeles).

You can cleanse your home when you feel the need to, using things like incense, water mist, and the sound of your powerful voice.

Use symbols and sigils to create meaningful spaces and invite powerful energies intentionally into your home.

Make choices for your home, when you are able, to align with nature in a sustainable way. Reduce, reuse, recycle like the crafty witch you are!

Your home can be a reflection of the magick you have within you. Have fun making your witchy home!
